Derek Timmins and Dougie Kirkham represented the club at this closed road event out near Linlithgow. Both rode a fixed gear, Derek a mammoth 48×19 and Dougie a measley 46×19. There were one or two other fixed gear riders out as well on the 0.7 mile climb. Derek was up in 2:57 and Dougie in 3:01. 80 odd riders turned out to race and were supported by a good crowd with cow bells and a piper at the finish. An excellent … Continue reading

Club member Nick Stormonth passed away on 2nd September 2012 after his courageous battle against cancer aged 37. Nick raced with the club and would be seen regularly out on East Lothian’s roads eating up the miles. As recently as this summer Nick completed a mammoth trip to his beloved Italy where he and long time friend David Bayley completed the Milan – San Remo sportive, cycled the Stelvio pass and the Gavia amongst many more. Nick will be sadly … Continue reading

A gentle run out to a cafe somewhere, probably in East Lothian. Meet outside the clubrooms at 0900 on Sunday 9th September. This would be suitable for anyone who wants to come along for a ride, whether a club member or not. Route and cafe stop will be decided on the day depending on who turns up and the weather!
My 4th visit up to the Cromarty Firth for the Skelly cup 50 TT on the A9 course around Invergordon. This events starts at 4pm which is a bit better than the usual early morning TT starts. This year it was the day before the TTT champs in Fife, but still had 30 entries. I like this course for some reason, don’t know why, and the weather was fairly kind this year. Wind got up a bit on the final … Continue reading
The Club will be supporting the East Lothian Festival of Sport week in the first week of September with a cafe run on Sunday 9th September. Meet outside the clubrooms at the Old Town Hall in Musselburgh for a 9am departure. This will be a leisurely ride for anyone who wants to join in and will head for a cafe stop somewhere in East Lothian. Further details to follow nearer the time.
This race is held on the A7 25TT course starting just north of Galashiels and turning just south of Heriot. There’s been a 54 and 55 on this course earlier this year and it’s regularly used by Gala CC. Well worth a late season ride. We are running a family event for ALL ages – completely non-competitive – on Saturday afternoon 21st July. We are running this as part of the Musselburgh Honest Toun Festival Week and the club will also be taking part in the parade along the High Street on the following Friday evening. The aim for those taking part is to cover around 4 miles of the tracks at the back of the Musselburgh Race Course, beside the ‘lagoons’, whilst stopping at a number of ‘checkpoints’ … Continue reading
